Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend Attorneys Honored by Her Justice 2015 Commitment to Justice Awards
NEW YORK (February 9) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Partners Marc Lieberstein, Barry M. Benjamin and associate Kristin Garris were honored by Her Justice as one of the 2015 Commitment to Justice Award winners for Outstanding Legal Team. The awards were presented on Thursday, February 5, at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center in New York, New York.
Commitment to Justice Award winners are recognized for generously donating their time and expertise to help women and their families receive the legal support they desperately need and deserve. Mr. Lieberstein, Mr. Benjamin, and Ms. Garris were recognized for their work in representing a client who sought the help of Her Justice in terminating her arranged marriage. Through skillful negotiation, without any court intervention, they secured for the client a divorce on terms very favorable to her and to her children. The client obtained sole custody of the children, child support in an amount above the amount required by New York statute, as well as other financial support for the children, including college tuition.
Mr. Lieberstein focuses his practice on intellectual property licensing and franchising in the commercial and industrial design area, e.g., fashion/apparel and accessories, and consumer products and services, including the drafting, negotiation and enforcement of license and franchise agreements, as well as implementation of branding and commercialization objectives for clients via licensing and franchising.
Mr. Benjamin is chair of Kilpatrick Townsend’s Advertising, Promotions, and Marketing group. He focuses his practice on advertising, technology, and privacy law in the areas of advice and counseling, negotiating contracts, regulatory defense, and litigation. Mr. Benjamin represents clients small and large, from multinational corporate advertisers and agencies to start-up ventures.
Ms. Garris focuses her practice on trademark and copyright litigation and counseling. Ms. Garris has experience with trademark proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office and with infringement cases in the federal courts. Ms. Garris also has experience with numerous domain name disputes before the World Intellectual Property Organization's Arbitration and Mediation Center, other Internet-related disputes, trademark licensing, portfolio management and trademark clearance, trademark prosecution, and copyright infringement disputes.
