NEW YORK (March 18) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that partner Lisa Pearson and associate Megan Bussey will be featured speakers at the Federal Bar Association’s 2015 Fashion Law Conference. The conference will be held on Friday, March 20, at the Court of International Trade in New York, New York.
The conference will focus on the unique legal issues affecting the fashion industry. Legal professionals and industry representatives will explore practice areas including cutting-edge technology, licensing issues, counterfeit strategies, importing/exporting, emerging markets, fashion financing and ethical sourcing. Ms. Pearson will join Rita Odin, VP and TM Counsel, The Estee Lauder Companies Inc., in a session on “Licensing Issues.” Ms. Pearson is an experienced, versatile and creative litigator specializing in copyright, trademark, unfair competition and Internet-related disputes. She has obtained excellent results for her clients in lawsuits across the country, in opposition and cancellation proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in UDRP proceedings to recover domain names. She also counsels clients on intellectual property issues and has designed and implemented successful policing, enforcement, anti-dilution and anti-counterfeiting programs.
Ms. Bussey will join Charlie Maddock, Director of Business Development, Shapeways Inc., and Olivera Medenica, Medenica Law PLLC, in a session on “New Issues in IP: Emerging Technologies.” Ms. Bussey concentrates her practice on intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on patent prosecution, client counseling, patent litigation, and opinion work. Her practice involves a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, mechanical devices, textiles, merchandising displays and telecommunications. Ms. Bussey regularly prepares and prosecutes patent applications in the United States and internationally. She is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
