ATLANTA (June 29) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that attorney Kimberlynn Davis has been named to the Jumpstart Atlanta Advisory Board.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community Corps members to serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. Currently, Jumpstart in the Southeast partners more than 230 Corps members with nearly 725 Atlanta preschool children living in low-income neighborhoods in and around the city. Together for the entire school year, they will work on the language and literacy skills these children need to succeed not only in school but also in life.

Dr. Davis is a registered patent attorney who focuses her practice on prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications in the chemical arts. Dr. Davis’s practice also includes due diligence and freedom to operate opinions, as well as client counseling and portfolio strategy for companies, universities, and research institutions. She also provides assistance on litigation matters relating to chemical and pharmaceutical matters. Dr. Davis’s expertise is in the discovery and development of pharmaceuticals, including medicinal chemistry, small molecule therapeutics, synthetic organic chemistry, formulations, and drug delivery. Prior to practicing law, she designed and synthesized nucleoside analogues as HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitors and focused on developing methodology to improve the regioselectivity of nucleoside base couplings. Dr. Davis also interned in the Emory University Office of Technology Transfer, where she assessed the marketability and patentability of technologies.
