Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend’s Susan Cahoon Named to Leadership Positions on the Emory University Board of Trustees

ATLANTA (January 11) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that partner Susan Cahoon was recently appointed to three leadership positions on the Emory University Board of Trustees. Effective immediately, Ms. Cahoon will be a member of the Executive Committee of the Board, Secretary of the Board, and Chair of the Board’s Real Estate, Building, and Grounds Committee. She was also selected to serve as one of the Emory-nominated Directors of the Carter Center effective January 2018.

The Emory University Board of Trustees, which was established in 1915, governs the university by establishing policy and exercising fiduciary responsibility for the long-term well-being of the institution. The board and its Executive Committee act on recommendation from board committees, university officers, and the University Senate.

Ms. Cahoon, a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, has chaired the firm's Litigation practice group and is the firm's General Counsel. She joined the firm in 1971 and was admitted to partnership in 1977. Ms. Cahoon has spent all of her career as a litigator. Her diverse experience includes patent infringement litigation, complex commercial disputes and securities litigation. She also is trained as a mediator and as an arbitrator. Ms. Cahoon received the Emory College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Award of Distinction in recognition of her contributions to her profession, to the community and to her college alma mater. She was first elected as a Trustee of Emory University in 2009.
