Insights: News Kilpatrick Townsend Adds James Oh to Silicon Valley Office

MENLO PARK (May 3)Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of C. James Oh to the firm’s Silicon Valley office. He joins as an associate on the Electrical Engineering and Software team in the firm’s internationally recognized Intellectual Property Department.

Mr. Oh’s experience includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications involving a variety of technologies, such as web-based applications, memory hierarchy, ISA design, computer vision, computer networking, machine learning, and cybersecurity. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Oh practiced at an IP boutique firm in San Jose.

Mr. Oh earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he studied under Professor Allen Hammond, a highly-regarded champion of Net Neutrality. Under Professor Hammond’s tutelage, Mr. Oh authored a paper proposing to regulate cable companies based on reclassifying them as common carriers under Title II of the Communications Act of 1934. The ideas of this paper were adopted and implemented by the Federal Communications Commission by 2015.

Mr. Oh also holds dual bachelor’s degrees — a B.A. in English from Yale University and a B.S. in computer science from Oregon State University.
