Corena Norris-McCluney Brings Nearly Two Decades of Legal and Business Experience
WINSTON-SALEM (April 2, 2019) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Corena Norris-McCluney has returned to the firm on the Labor & Employment team in the firm’s Winston Salem office. Ms. Norris-McCluney previously practiced at Kilpatrick Townsend from 2002-2014. She rejoins the firm after serving as Senior Vice President, General Counsel for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation.

At Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation, Ms. Norris-McCluney served as a member of the company’s Senior Management Team, was responsible for managing the in-house legal team including hiring and management of outside legal counsel, and advised on risks facing all areas of the global business and corporate governance.

Before leaving Kilpatrick Townsend in 2014, her practice focused on providing counsel to global clients with respect to general labor and employment matters, federal and state laws, as well as a variety of general human resources issues. She also represented employers in investigations and charges before governmental agencies, including the EEOC and DOL and defended employers before North Carolina state, appellate and federal courts.
Ms. Norris-McCluney is a leader in the Triad community. She served on the Winston-Salem Foundation Board, Crisis Control Ministry, the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, was a member of the Winston-Salem Capital Campaign Coordinating Committee, and was on the Black Philanthropy Initiative Advisory Board to name just a few of her leadership positions. Among Ms. Norris-McCluney’s many honors, she was named one of the Triad Business Journal’s “Leading Women in Business,” recognized as a “North Carolina Bar Association Citizen Lawyer,” and was given a national “Minority Corporate Counsel Association Rising Star Award.”
Ms. Norris-McCluney is a graduate of North Carolina State University and earned her law degree at Wake Forest University School of Law.
