Erica Chanin focuses her practice on complex litigation involving trademark, false advertising, and copyright issues. She has represented clients across industries both in federal and state court. Erica has litigated cases through fact and expert discovery to trial, overseeing countless cases and enforcement matters. Representative clients include Polaroid, FCA, 1-800 Flowers, and a number of other Fortune 500 companies. She is also experienced before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board while managing trademark enforcement programs for her clients. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” in 2022, 2023 and 2024 for Intellectual Property Litigation by Super Lawyers magazine.
While attending law school, Erica worked as a summer associate with the firm in 2016. She also served as a judicial intern for Judge David Keesler in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina in Charlotte, North Carolina where she researched and drafted legal memoranda for social security cases and conducted legal research and recommendations in criminal and civil suits. Erica was articles editor of the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology and a staff member of the North Carolina Law Review.
After attending graduate school, Erica was an intern in the Department of Economic Social Affairs at the United Nations in New York City where she developed an online training workshop for the United Nations E-Government Survey and created individualized guides for all 193 Member States illustrating their results in the E-Government Survey. While attending graduate school, Erica was a graduate researcher for Dr. Shigeo Hirano, Professor of Political Science.
While attending Vanderbilt University, Erica served as an intern to former U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss in Atlanta, Georgia. She also studied abroad for a semester at the University of Edinburgh Institute of Governance and was a parliamentary aide to Member of Scottish Parliament John Lamont in Edinburgh, Scotland.
