Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend’s Mike Rafter Named 2017 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow
ATLANTA (January 30) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that Mike Rafter has been selected as a member of the 2017 Class of Fellows to participate in the landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Mr. Rafter will be the sixth fellow from the firm since the program’s inception.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Mike” said Henry Walker, Chair of Kilpatrick Townsend. “Mike is a tremendous asset to the firm and we are proud to have him represent us in the esteemed LCLD program. He joins a select group of experienced attorneys from diverse backgrounds who have been recognized for their potential as leaders in their organizations.”
According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “an extraordinarily rich year of relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership.”
Mr. Rafter focuses his practice in the areas of trademark and advertising law. He serves as principal trademark counsel for a number of companies with well-known brands and large brand portfolios and manages their trademark portfolios and disputes throughout the world. He helps clients implement cost-effective strategies to protect their existing trademarks and, when necessary, to enforce their rights in those marks. Mr. Rafter provides straightforward, practical advice when they are considering new marks, helping them understand and evaluate, for example, whether the new mark will be difficult or expensive to protect, or whether someone is likely to sue them for infringement.
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 260 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The LCLD Fellows program, which has trained more than a thousand mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives.
