Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend and Facebook Present the Inaugural Facebook Legal Scholars Program

SAN FRANCISCO (July 30) – A diverse group of 30 incoming law school students were selected to participate in the inaugural Facebook Legal Scholars Program, a collaboration between Kilpatrick Townsend and Facebook. In this one-and-a-half-day intensive program, participants will gain valuable insight into the legal profession and the tools necessary to succeed in law school.

The program will be presented virtually on July 30-July 31. Participants will experience simulated law school classes and receive feedback on graded homework assignments; gain instruction on legal writing; be guided on case-briefing, outlining and time management; and hear from law school deans and current law students on how to successfully transition from the last year of college/workforce to the first year of law school.

“Kilpatrick Townsend has hosted a similar program on the East Coast since 2017, which contributed to Facebook’s selection of the firm as the inaugural winner of Facebook’s Law Firm Diversity Champion Award,” said Akshay Verma, who was instrumental in planning the program as Facebook’s Head of Legal Operations. “As a result, it was a natural partnership for both Kilpatrick Townsend and Facebook to launch the Facebook Legal Scholars Program.”

“We are proud to partner with our client Facebook on this important program on the West Coast,” said Yendelela Neely Holston, Partner and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Kilpatrick Townsend. “Through the Facebook Scholars Program we hope to further our shared commitment to increasing diversity in the legal profession.”
