Insights: Publications Accession to Apostille Convention

China has acceded to the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents, an international treaty that replaces the legalization procedure with a certification called an apostille. In other words, apostilled documents issued by one of the member countries of the Convention have the same effect in another member country regarding their authenticity. Accession took place on March 8, 2023, and took effect on November 7, 2023.
