Prior to joining the firm, Janay was a Legal Fellow in the Office of Legal Affairs at the University of Georgia where she had primary responsibility for waivers of liability and clinical affiliation agreements. Janay assisted the University’s attorneys with student appeals regarding academic honesty and requests for review of academic decisions, policy review and revision, legal research and writing, and contract review.

While attending the University of Georgia School of Law, Janay was a clinical student in its First Amendment Clinic and served as Articles Editor of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. She was a summer intern for the Honorable Charles E. Auslander, III and the Honorable Ethelyn N. Simpson in the Athens-Clarke County State Court and a summer intern in the Western Circuit Public Defender’s Office in its juvenile court. Janay was a member and Intramural Mock Competition Coordinator of the Mock Trial Team, a Semifinalist in the J. Melvin England Mock Trial Competition, and finished in the Top 30 in the 2020 National Online Trial Advocacy Competition. She also worked as a Compliance Employee in the University of Georgia’s Athletics Department.
