Nick Bettes serves as the firm’s Director of Information Security. He leads the Information Security team and is primarily responsible for leading, developing, and supporting the firm’s information security programs, policies, and initiatives. Nick directs the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems and business operations designed to prevent against security breaches and vulnerability issues. He is also responsible for auditing existing systems, while directing the administration of information security policies, activities, and standards. Nick works closely with the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Information Officer to support the firm’s risk management initiatives.
Nick has more than ten years of experience within information security – during which he has built two cyber risk programs – as well as nearly ten additional years of experience in other financial and compliance roles.
Prior to joining the firm, Nick was Cyber Risk Manager at a top-ranked AmLaw firm and later a consultant for the firm’s Data, Privacy, and Security practice in its Atlanta, Georgia office. In his role as Cyber Risk Manager, Nick’s responsibilities included maintaining information security policy, cyber risk management, operational aspects of the privacy program, information security awareness training, and vendor management, as well as supporting/managing client expectations around data protection. As a consultant, Nick helped his clients mature all aspects of their security programs as well as demonstrate compliance with HIPAA obligations.
Nick was also IT Risk Manager for a global software and technology company. As IT Risk Manager, Nick deployed a governance, risk, and compliance program to help drive decisions to manage and reduce risk.
