Preston Chaffee focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Preston was a litigation associate in the San Diego, California office of an international law firm where his practice included a variety of complex civil litigation areas including policyholder side insurance, securities, and white-collar matters.
While attending University of San Diego School of Law, Preston served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Patrick J. Bumatay in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Margaret Mann in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California. He was a member of the Transactional Law team, winning The Closer, a national transactional law competition, in 2021.
Prior to attending law school, Preston spent eight and a half years in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. His billets included Navigation Instructor at the Littoral Combat Ship Training Facility, Navigator with the Littoral Combat Ship Crew 111, and Main Propulsion Officer on the USS CHAFEE (DDG-90).
Preston was recognized in 2025 as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Commercial Litigation by The Best Lawyers in America®.
