Mike Grace focuses his practice on business and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and private equity. He also advises clients on complex commercial agreements and transactions. Mike regularly advises public portfolio companies of private equity funds and other middle-market businesses across a wide range of industries, including retail, consumer goods, software-as-a service technology solutions, and business-to-business transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Mike was Legal Counsel at the Supreme Court of North Carolina, where he provided legal support to the Chief Justice in his role as head of the North Carolina Judicial Branch. Previously, he was a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Chief Justice Mark Martin in the Supreme Court of North Carolina, where he conducted extensive legal research, reviewed petitions seeking judicial review, prepared bench memoranda for oral arguments, and drafted judicial opinions on a variety of civil and criminal cases.

While attending law school, Mike was a licensed student advocate at the Innocence and Justice Clinic in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He also participated in Wake Forest’s Micro-Trade and Development Clinic, traveling to Nicaragua to work with micro-enterprises and NGOs. During the summer after his 2L year, Mike was selected as the sole legal intern for a multinational corporation engaged in the design, development, manufacture, and marketing and sale worldwide of its footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories, and services.

Mike was recognized as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" in 2023 for Banking and Finance Law and Corporate Law and again in 2024 for Banking and Finance Law, Corporate Law, and Mergers and Acquisitions Law by The Best Lawyers in America®. He is a recipient of the "Winston Under 40" Leadership Award in 2022. Mike was nominated as a "40 Under 40 Most Influential African American in the Triad" in 2020 by the Triad's Black Business Ink magazine. He was selected as a "Top 100" attorney by the National Black Lawyers (NBL) for 2021.
