Shan He focuses her practice on patent preparation, prosecution, and related counseling primarily in the software and electronic arts, including computer software and systems, database, signal processing, image/video processing, networking, communications, and digital content security.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. He worked as a patent agent and then a patent counsel in the Atlanta, Georgia office of a boutique intellectual property law firm where she drafted and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of technology areas for several Fortune 100 companies.
Prior to launching her legal career, Dr. He was a senior research scientist at Technicolor research lab in Princeton, New Jersey where her research work included signal processing, image/video processing, video compression, 3D video processing, content security, watermarking, and fingerprinting for H.264 stream video.
Dr. He has more than 25 research papers published in prestigious journals or presented in international conferences. Dr. He is a co-inventor of more than 10 issued patents. She was also a reviewer for numerous Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) journals and conferences.
Dr. He holds a law degree from Georgia State University College of Law where she graduated summa cum laude and was inducted to the Order of the Coif. Dr. He also holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. He received her master and bachelor degrees in Control Theory and Control Engineering, both with the highest honors, from Tsinghua University, Beijing China.
