Alexa Hunter is a registered patent attorney who regularly assists foreign and domestic companies with preparing and prosecuting patent applications. She manages complex domestic and international portfolios in the chemical, life sciences, medical and surgical device fields. Alexa provides invalidity, clearance, and freedom-to-operate opinions and patent validity, infringement, and right to practice counseling. Alexa is also experienced in coordinating patent prosecution abroad in foreign jurisdictions and counseling clients on their patent issues. Her experience provides a strong foundation for counseling clients on how to grow and build their portfolios, even in quickly advancing spaces.
Prior to joining the firm, Alexa was an associate and member of the Chemical and Life Sciences team at a full-service, intellectual property law firm based in Greenville, South Carolina where she prepared and prosecuted U.S. and international patent applications in the chemical and biotechnology fields, including drug-delivery, implantable and wearable medical devices, pharmaceutical intermediates and small molecules, genetic modification, bioreactor design and scale-up, semiconductor design and fabrication, coatings, formulations, and consumer products, including in the nutraceutical and personal care sectors. Previously, Alexa worked as a commercial contract attorney at an international third-party logistics provider in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she supported its general and senior counsel.
While attending law school, Alexa served as a legal intern at an international chemicals and plastic resins developer and manufacturer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. She also served as the Production Editor of the Pittsburgh Tax Law Review and Community Liaison for the Student Intellectual Property Law Association.
Alexa was recognized in 2025 as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Patent Law by The Best Lawyers in America®.
