Rose Kautz has a full-range trademark and brand management practice with a focus on clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and strategy. She represents both emerging and established brands and works with clients ranging from startups and nonprofits to multinational corporations in the fashion, beverage, technology, blockchain, and entertainment industries. Rose primarily counsels clients on acquiring and maintaining rights in the United States and internationally, online and domain enforcement, and potential and pending infringement problems. She has litigated cases in federal court and pursued opposition and cancellation actions before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
While attending law school, Rose served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Stephen Reinhardt in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She was a Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review and Staff Member of the UCLA Journal of Law and Technology.
Rose can often be found speaking, writing, and teaching about trademark topics, and is an active supporter of multiple diversity and mentoring initiatives in the Los Angeles legal community.
Before launching her legal career, Rose worked as a full-time assistant at one of the top strategic communications firms in the U.S. where she focused on corporate, financial, transactional, reputational, and crisis communications.
Rose is proficient in German, having lived in Germany on multiple occasions, including while studying abroad at Humboldt University in Berlin in 2009.
Rose was recognized in 2025 as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Intellectual Property Law by The Best Lawyers in America®.
