Jordan Melvin focuses his practice on business and finance, mergers and acquisitions, business formation, corporate governance, shareholder matters, management issues, and taxation. He partners with a range of clients including private equity funds, privately held companies, multigenerational family owned businesses, financial institutions, and other lenders.
Jordan assists clients and helps drive a deal from strategy to closing. He negotiates and drafts all agreements including asset purchase agreements, stock purchase agreements, buy-sell agreements, LLC operating agreements, and partnership agreements. He also advises on third-party contracts, corporate bylaws, articles of dissolution and non-competition, and non-disclosure agreements, as well as day-to-day operations.
Prior to joining the firm, Jordan was an associate in the Business and Finance Group at HMB Legal Counsel, a well-established, corporate-focused law firm based in Chicago, Illinois where he split his practice between transactional and general corporate matters.
Jordan studied future foreign investment, trade, and business transactions in Havana, Cuba, and traveled to Madrid, Spain to study European human rights law, international and European business, and commercial law. He was awarded a certificate from Universidad Pontificia Comillas, a university internationally ranked among the world’s best universities. In addition to his corporate practice, Jordan is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois.
