Jen O’Connor focuses her practice on the securitization of commercial and residential real estate assets, as well as general corporate finance matters. Jen represents primary servicers, master servicers and special servicers in all aspects of CMBS Loan servicing with a particular emphasis on REMIC, Pooling and Servicing Agreement and lender issues associated with post-securitization loan modifications, including, without limitation, loan assumptions (single site, multi-site, multi-state sites and single tenant sites), defeasances, mezzanine financing, preferred equity investments, loan modifications, borrower restructurings and mergers, partial releases, easements, collateral reconfigurations, cash management, condemnations, leasing issues, loan work-outs, loan sales, receivership and foreclosures.
Jen was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in 2024 and the five years immediately preceding for Securitization and Structured Finance Law. She was also named a 2022 and 2024 "Atlanta Lawyer of the Year" in the area of Securitization and Structured Finance Law by The Best Lawyers in America®. Jen was selected as one of ten honorees for the Atlanta/Southeast region in Connect Commercial Real Estate’s 2021 Lawyers in Real Estate Award.
Experience
Assist special servicers with interpreting provisions in applicable pooling and servicing agreements, intercreditor agreements, participation agreements and co-lender agreements and assist special servicers with various other securitization issues related to a bankruptcy filing of a large national retail REIT.
Assist loan servicer with documenting, negotiating and closing loan assumption transactions involving subordinate debt and rating agency review on a multimillion dollar, multistate portfolio of loans secured by single credit tenant drug stores.
