Frank is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Frank utilizes his almost 20 years of electrical engineering experience in industry, as well as his background as a certified automotive mechanic, to prepare and prosecute applications in a wide range of technologies including wireless telecommunications, analog and digital electronics, data storage systems, laser systems, RFID systems, image display devices, power supplies, batteries, computer software and hardware, and semiconductor devices and processes, automotive technologies including traction motors, batteries, regenerative braking systems, electronic fuel injection, carburation, spark plugs, and connectors, as well as other electrical and mechanical arts. His practice also includes assisting clients in litigation matters involving Inter-Partes Review (IPR) and patent infringement.
Prior to joining the firm, Frank was a Senior Counsel in the Palo Alto, California office of a west coast law firm where he focused on patent prosecution and intellectual property portfolio management in fields including analog, digital and wireless communications, fiber optics, digital rights management, semiconductor devices, and automotive technologies.
Prior to launching his legal career, Frank worked as Principal Electrical Engineer at MKS Instruments in Methuen, Massachusetts where he designed and developed analog and digital pressure transducers and flow controllers used for semiconductor process control. He was a Senior Electric Engineer at Raytheon in Tewksbury, Massachusetts where he designed and developed high-voltage and high current power supplies for air-to-air missile applications. Frank also worked as an Electrical Engineer at RCA/GE in Burlington, Massachusetts where he wrote diagnostic software for M1A1 tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles, and Humvees.
While attending law school, Frank was editor for IDEA: The Intellectual Property Law Review.
