Danny Sherwinter is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on strategic intellectual property portfolio development with an emphasis on patent prosecution in the electronics, software, and mechanical arts. He counsels individuals and start-ups to the largest patent filers in the world in a wide range of strategic and technical disciplines including telecommunications and networking, signal processing and coding (including medical, encryption, and neural network applications), computer architecture and storage systems, analog and digital circuit design, biometrics, aerospace devices, and business methods and software.
Prior to joining the firm, Danny was a partner in the Boulder office of a Colorado-based intellectual property law firm where his practice included strategic intellectual property portfolio counseling, patent prosecution, opinions, due diligence, licensing, and trademark counseling and prosecution. Previously, he was an associate at Kilpatrick (formerly Townsend and Townsend and Crew) in its Denver, Colorado office where he focused on patent prosecution and counseling.
Prior to launching his legal career, Danny was a research and development project manager at The Boeing Company in St. Louis, Missouri where he designed and analyzed electrical systems for various tactical aircraft programs. He has co-invented patented techniques for reverse engineering structural data from legacy aerospace platforms.
Danny is an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado School of Law where he teaches courses on strategic IP counseling and prosecution and patent law and advises its Patent Clinic. He is founding author/editor of The IP Strategist Blog.
Danny was recognized as a Colorado "Rising Star" in 2013 and 2017 and a “Super Lawyer” in 2018, 2019 and 2020 for Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers magazine.
