Overview

Sara K. Stadler focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation and enforcement.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Stadler was an Associate Professor of Law, with tenure, at the Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, where she taught courses in copyright law, trademark law, intellectual property law (including idea misappropriation, trade secret, and patent law), and real property law. She was regularly recognized for her excellence in teaching, including by the Class of 2011, which awarded her the distinction of Best Professor, and by the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, which named her Professor of the Year in 2009. Prior to joining the Emory faculty, Ms. Stadler was an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she was awarded the Goldman Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.

Before joining the academy, Ms. Stadler worked with the firm in Atlanta, Georgia as an associate from 1997 to 2001, participating in all phases of copyright and trademark litigation, prosecuting copyright and trademark applications, and engaging in intellectual property licensing and counseling. Before joining the firm, she worked with Fross Zelnick Lehman & Zissu, P.C. in New York.

Most recently, in 2013, Ms. Stadler founded Grellow & Gray Inc., a corporation located in Omaha, Nebraska, which manufactures and markets the Sirka® counter, a plastic knitting tool that Ms. Stadler invented. The Sirka® counter is the subject of three U.S. patents (Nos. 9,188,465, D724,460 and D724,982) and, along with the Sirka® bento box, is sold in yarn stores across the United States as well as in Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Finland, Australia, and New Zealand. Being solely responsible for the design, engineering, marketing, operations, and legal aspects of the business, Ms. Stadler understands what it takes to build and grow a successful enterprise.

Ms. Stadler was recognized in 2025 as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Intellectual Property Law by The Best Lawyers in America®.
