Chase Stevens focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation.
Before joining the firm, Chase clerked for the Honorable L. Steven Grasz in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Previously, he clerked for the Honorable Damon R. Leichty in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
While attending law school, Chase was Articles Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review. He served as a legal intern in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of North Carolina, a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert J. Conrad in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and a judicial extern for the Honorable Phil Berger, Jr. in the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Complex Commercial Litigation:
In a North Carolina Superior Court case, secured a judgment compelling the release of 911 call recordings on behalf of a prominent media outlet.
Currently representing a prominent food industry client in a complex commercial litigation matter in North Carolina Superior Court involving allegations of trade secrets misappropriation and trademark infringement. Matter is ongoing.
Defending a leading national convenience store chain in the Eastern District of Virginia against alleged violations of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act and breaches of contract. Matter is ongoing.
Currently representing a client in a lawsuit challenging the use of force by immigration enforcement officials in the District of Vermont.
ERISA:
Achieved dismissal of ERISA and Parity Act claims against a major health insurer in a lawsuit in the Western District of North Carolina.
Successfully defended a health plan administrator against duplicative legal claims in North Carolina federal court, achieving dismissal of an ERISA equitable relief claim and subsequent affirmation on reconsideration.
Achieved dismissal of a claim for benefits against a health plan’s former third-party administrator for lack of Constitutional standing.
Healthcare:
Secured dismissal of a breach of contract lawsuit against a major health insurer in California state court on personal jurisdiction grounds.
Secured dismissal of a major health insurer from an arbitration proceeding on grounds of non-existent agreement to arbitrate.
Secured dismissal of a breach of contract claim in Georgia state court on behalf of a healthcare insurer. The case centered on the impact of an oral verification of benefits.
Class Actions:
Currently leading a class action lawsuit in North Carolina federal court on behalf of consumers in North Carolina against a national durable medical equipment provider. This case challenges unfair and deceptive debt collection practices aimed at recovering allegedly improper charges. Matter is ongoing.
