Alan Wright focuses his practice in the trial and appeal of commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wright was a partner at Crouch & Ramey, a litigation law firm based in Dallas, Texas, where his practice included appellate, banking and finance, bankruptcy, construction, contract and business tort, energy, insurance, labor and employment real estate, land use and zoning, probate, and securities litigation. Previously, Mr. Wright practiced for 29 years at a national commercial law firm where his practice included banking and finance, bankruptcy, construction, contract and business torts, energy, insurance, labor and employment, real estate, land use and zoning, probate, and securities matters.
Mr. Wright is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has worked extensively as a consultant and advisor to trial lawyers before, during, and after trial. In addition to his traditional appellate court practice, Mr. Wright has also focused his appellate efforts on summary judgments, expert witness challenges, jury charges, disqualification and recusal, arbitration-related litigation, mandamus and other extraordinary writs, supersedeas and judgment enforcement, and attorney’s fees issues. He regularly counsels clients in the coordination of legal strategies and business goals, particularly in the evaluation of potential appeals.
Mr. Wright was recognized as a Texas "Super Lawyer" in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009 for Appellate Law and again in 2024 and the 13 years immediately preceding for Business Litigation by Super Lawyers magazine. Experience
Represented plaintiff technology company in suit for breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, violations of state and federal computer fraud and abuse statutes, and injunctive relief brought against licensees in federal court in Texas. Obtained summary judgment as to liability on plaintiff's affirmative claims and dismissal of defendants’ counterclaims for breach of contract, promissory estoppel, antitrust, fraud, and deceptive trade practices.
Defended technology company in parallel suits by licensee and affiliated parties asserting unfair competition and seeking declaration of unenforceability of non-competition provisions of license agreement in federal courts in California and Texas. Obtained transfer and dismissal of California suit and summary judgment dismissing plaintiffs’ claims in Texas.
Defended technology company in suit by individual plaintiffs in federal court in California for negligence relating to optical character recognition technology. Obtained dismissal of plaintiffs’ complaint for failure to state a claim upon which relief could be granted.
