Insights: Events Preventing Sexual Harassment in a #MeToo Era

Alameda County Employer Advisory Council

Amid the #MeToo movement and the recent wave of high-profile allegations of sexual harassment, employers are facing increased scrutiny regarding whether they have allowed sexual harassment and discrimination to persist in the workplace and how they have responded to reports of harassment in the past. In light of this increased attention to an issue so critical and deeply felt by many, employers must be willing to undertake open and honest evaluations of the workplace culture, employee relationships, workplace policies, and harassment reporting procedures, or face legal consequences and a potential public relations nightmare.

This presentation will address the topic of sexual harassment in the workplace, including a discussion of how employers can comply with their legal obligations related to sexual harassment, respond appropriately to complaints of sexual harassment when they occur, and create a workplace culture which ensures that sexual harassment is reported and that employees are not silenced by a fear of retaliation. Join us for an overview of these important issues and a discussion of how you can help prevent and respond to workplace sexual harassment in the #MeToo era.
