Tom Biafore focuses his practice on structured finance and servicing matters relating to commercial mortgage-backed securities with an emphasis on federal tax and compliance issues. He represents a number of servicers and special servicers on a variety of matters relating to securitized loan modifications and restructurings. Tom has significant experience with a variety of pass-through finance vehicles including REMICs and grantor trusts. He has given numerous lectures and authored articles relating to tax and servicing issues in structured finance and has represented servicing clients in successful requests to the IRS for private letter rulings on a variety of securitization issues.

Tom has served as national CMBS and REMIC counsel to numerous servicers and special servicers. He has testified as an expert witness in federal court and bankruptcy court in the areas of U.S. and international capital markets, REMIC matters, and call protection in U.S. Capital Markets loans.

Tom was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® in 2024 and the 16 years immediately preceding in the areas of Banking and Finance, Real Estate, Securities/Capital Markets, and Securitization and Structured Finance Law. He was also named a 2012 "Atlanta Lawyer of the Year" in the area of Securitization and Structured Finance Law by The Best Lawyers in America®. Tom was named a 2009 and 2010 Georgia "Super Lawyer" in the area of Securities & Corporate Finance by Super Lawyers magazine.
