Aarti Shah Joins in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 8) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Aarti Shah to the Washington, D.C. office. Ms. Shah will serve as a partner in the firm’s internationally recognized Intellectual Property Department and will be a member of the Patent Litigation Team. She joins from Mintz Levin.

Ms. Shah, who previously served as a senior investigative attorney in the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), focuses her practice on assisting clients in developing and implementing effective ITC strategies. During her tenure at the ITC’s Office of Unfair Import Investigations, Ms. Shah developed her extensive trial experience while serving as lead counsel for the federal government in seven trials and in over 25 ITC investigations, covering trade secrets, trademarks, and electrical, computer, mechanical, and chemical patents. In private practice, she has been lead counsel for 12 ITC investigations, including six hearings and acted as counsel in numerous U.S. District Court patent litigations. Additionally, Ms. Shah is a sought-after thought leader—she is a prolific writer and speaker on ITC and litigation matters.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Shah practiced as a patent litigator with an international law firm where she handled numerous district court cases relating to computer, electrical, mechanical, and pharmaceutical technologies. She also led appellate litigation matters before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and provided counsel on patent portfolios and infringement opinions.

Ms. Shah is committed to the development, training, and mentoring of attorneys and has created training programs for associates. She is very active in pro bono matters, particularly relating to women and children and has been recognized as a member of the D.C. Pro Bono Honor Roll. Ms. Shah is active in the legal community and serves on the Executive Committee of the ITC Trial Lawyers' Association Member. 

Ms. Shah earned her J.D., with honors, from Georgetown University and her B.A., with honors, from Harvard College.
