Ava Conger focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and white collar crime and internal investigations. She has represented clients in federal and state courts across the country, including complex breach of contract and indemnification disputes; defense of class action lawsuits; disputes concerning real property, including easement disputes, lease disputes, trespass, and condemnation; defense of consumer statutory claims; defense of claims under the False Claims Act; and insurance coverage disputes. Her practice spans a range of industries, including telecommunications, software and website development, healthcare, and construction.
Ms. Conger has experience in all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigation, managing complex document discovery, taking and defending depositions, motions practice, and trial. She also has experience in all aspects of a jury trial, including conducting voir dire, opening statements and closing arguments, and direct and cross-examination of witnesses. Ms. Conger has also represented clients in private arbitration.
Ms. Conger was also part of the Volkswagen AG Independent Compliance Monitor & Auditor team that oversaw VW AG’s compliance with Plea Agreement and Consent Decree obligations arising from parallel criminal and civil cases concerning emissions fraud with regard to the company’s diesel-powered cars sold in the United States. She has also assisted clients in responding to grand jury subpoenas, civil investigative demands, and other agency subpoenas.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Conger was a law clerk for the Honorable Marc T. Treadwell in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
While attending law school, Ms. Conger served as an extern in the District Attorney's Office for the Western Judicial Circuit in Athens, Georgia through the Prosecutorial Clinic and as a criminal law teaching assistant for Dean Paul M. Kurtz. Ms. Conger was also an editorial board member and notes editor of the Georgia Law Review and was a member of the Georgia Law Mock Trial Team.
Ms. Conger was recognized in 2025 and the four years immediately preceding as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Commercial Litigation and White-Collar Criminal Defense by The Best Lawyers in America®.
