Overview

Jeffrey Marlink is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on patent preparation, prosecution, and related counseling primarily in the electronics and software industries. He has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the United States and in accordance with the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Additionally, Jeffrey has prosecuted patent applications in foreign jurisdictions and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Jeffrey has assisted large corporations to individual inventors in patent prosecution and preparation in many technical areas including electronic hardware, computer software, telecommunications, and mechanical devices. Whether it is management of his client’s patent portfolio, prosecution in view of the client’s marketing objectives, or guiding the client through the patent process, Jeffrey strives to effectively achieve his clients’ goals.

Prior to joining the firm, Jeffrey was a patent attorney in the Portland, Oregon office of an intellectual property law firm where he focused his practice on prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyright protection. Previously, Jeffrey was a patent associate in the Portland, Oregon office of a Pacific Northwest law firm where he drafted patent applications related to semiconductor packaging and processing, computer hardware, cellular standards, and mechanical devices.

Prior to launching his legal career, Jeffrey worked on the evaluation of a power system for a major electronics company and electrical design and testing for a small technology furniture company. The experience he gained at these companies has led Jeffrey to understand the importance of interrelation of technology areas within a product (such as the intertwining of mechanical components, electrical components, and computer software).
