Overview

Leo Wen is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation, post-grant proceedings such as Inter Partes Review (IPR), and legal opinions on patentability, invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate (FTO). Leveraging his solid technical background in physics and electrical engineering, Leo is skilled in handling complex technologies across a broad spectrum, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, autonomous cars, LiDAR, quantum computing, 5G telecommunication, Wi-Fi, analog and digital circuitry, generators, analytical instrumentation, cable installation systems, medical devices, mechanics, software, streaming services, video conferencing and productivity platforms, business methods, and the like.

Leo counsels and assists technology companies in protecting their most valuable intangibles. He is experienced in developing patent strategies tailored for clients based on their unique business goals. Leo builds and manages patent portfolios for Fortune 500 companies and leading companies in niche markets.

Prior to joining the firm, Leo was an associate in the Atlanta office of another Am Law 100 firm and a national IP boutique firm. His practice concentrated on patent preparation and prosecution as well as providing legal opinions on infringement, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate (FTO). Leo also served as a patent engineer for China’s largest IP law firm, where he prepared or prosecuted about 200 patent applications.

Leo has an active pro bono practice, including drafting patent applications for solo inventors introduced by Georgia PATENTS.

Beyond his practice, Leo founded PT Intellectual (Peking University/Tsinghua University IP Club) in Shanghai, China, an organization that connects stellar intellectual property practitioners such as IP attorneys, in-house counsels, judges, and scholars in China.

Provided solid technical analysis in a patent infringement lawsuit (Western District of Texas) related to phased array sound systems for electronic devices. Achieved a quick settlement for the defendant by providing convincing technical and legal arguments.
