Kelsey Donnalley of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton observed that her firm had seen an "uncharacteristic" level of demand in this year’s first quarter in the Southeast.
“Part of that was we had a ton of deals pokered in the fire at the end of 2025 and not everything got closed,” said Donnalley, who is based in Atlanta. "All that kind of carried over, plus some new deals [meant] we had a very busy first quarter which led us to look at our resources and realize we need to bring in some new team members."
Donnalley, co-team leader of Kilpatrick’s corporate M&A practice, noted that demand was steady throughout 2025 and continued into 2026. She said her group “didn’t see it continuing—maybe not at the same level it was in the first quarter.”
“But we’re seeing new deals coming to market.” Donnalley said. “Those will heat up and get busy over the next few months.”
