International Trademark Association Presents VSA Awards in Panama
New York, New York– [October 19]–Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP is proud to announce that the International Trademark Association (INTA) honored Marc Lieberstein with the Volunteer Service Award (VSA) in the Advancement of Committee or Subcommittee Objectives category. INTA is a member based organization that supports trademarks and related intellectual property in order to protect consumers and to promote fair and effective commerce.
The VSAs recognize individuals who provide exemplary volunteer service to INTA during the past year. As a member of INTA’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee’s Neutral Standards & Measurement Subcommittee, Mr. Lieberstein made a tremendous impact by volunteering both his time and expertise to support the Association’s goals and objectives as outlined in the 2014-2017 Strategic Plan.
Mr. Lieberstein has proven highly effective in both helping INTA to bring exposure to its mediation training and expanding its offerings to more members in more parts of the world. He provided invaluable input regarding mediation training offered at the Annual Meeting and on training modules offered during the year, and was the first to recommend online mediation training. He was also instrumental in formalizing INTA’s partnership with Asociación Interamericana de la Propiedad Industrial (ASIPI) to bring mediation training to Latin America. His team is currently organizing training with the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) in Africa.
Mr. Lieberstein and his team also undertook the major task of revising the Panel of Trademark Mediators mediation training report and drafted new requirements for the Panel of Trademark Mediators’ applications and reapplications. In doing so, they have provided the INTA community with accurate and comprehensive information on global mediations.
“Our volunteers are a crucial element in achieving our mission to advance the protection of trademarks around the world,” said Etienne Sanz de Acedo, INTA Chief Executive Officer. “On behalf of INTA and more than 6,500 organizations across the globe, I’d like to thank Marc Lieberstein for his hard work and determination.”
Marc Lieberstein will accept the award at an Awards Ceremony at INTA’s Leadership Meeting in Panama City, Panama on November 17, 2015.
