WINSTON-SALEM (September 23) - Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that the firm was honored for its pro bono work by the Children’s Law Center for Central North Carolina (CLC). In addition to being recognized as a founder of the CLC, the firm was also named the recipient of the organization’s Pro Bono Law Firm Award. Award recipients were honored at The Children’s Law Center’s 10th Anniversary & Awards Celebration on Thursday, September 17.

The firm, through the leadership of former Pro Bono Partner Debbie Segal and the early involvement of partner David Smith and many others, helped found the CLC over 10 years ago. Since then, Kilpatrick Townsend has supported the center at the highest sponsorship level every year. In addition, in the past 10 years, Kilpatrick Townsend attorneys have contributed over 7,500 pro bono hours to 84 Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) matters, involving more than 150 children. Kilpatrick Townsend partner, Susan Boyles, currently serves on the organization’s Board of Directors.

“We are extremely proud of this honor,” said Tamara Serwer Caldas, Kilpatrick Townsend Pro Bono Partner. “At Kilpatrick Townsend we are deeply committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work. We are proud to support the Children’s Law Center for Central North Carolina and the many vulnerable children it serves, and look forward to partnering with them for many years to come.”

The mission of the CLC is to provide children with quality legal advocacy focusing on domestic violence issues, high conflict custody cases and ensuring access to education. Their ultimate goal is to enable children to grow up in safe environments and to become emotionally healthy adults. The CLC is committed to making Forsyth County and Central North Carolina a safer place for children - one family at a time.
