Insights: News Kilpatrick Townsend's Washington D.C Office Grows its Electronics and Software Team

WASHINGTON D.C. (November 7) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Allison Gaul to the firm’s Washington D.C. office as an Associate on the Electronics and Software Team in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department.

Ms. Gaul focuses her practice in the areas of software and computer engineering patent prosecution and advises clients on patent strategy for inventions related to computer, electrical, and biomedical arts. She has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications for telecommunications, augmented reality, and software, and has worked on intellectual property rights procurement, licensing, and post-grant proceedings for a number of Fortune 100 companies.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Gaul worked as a Patent Attorney at an Am Law 200 firm in Washington D.C., where she advised Fortune 100 and Silicon Valley clients on complex technical matters, developed intellectual property strategies, and drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications. Prior to her work as a patent attorney, she served as a Senior Law Clerk for the Philadelphia Office of the District Attorney in the Economic and Cyber Crimes Division. While in this role, she performed financial forensics evaluations on real estate transactions and accounting records in addition to her daily law clerk duties. She has also worked as a Patent Examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she focused primarily on patents related to business methodologies, cryptocurrencies, and network and financial transaction security.

In addition to her work as a patent attorney, Ms. Gaul currently serves as the Chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Emerging Technologies Committee. She also founded a non-profit organization, STEM America, which is dedicated to providing STEM exposure and entrepreneur workshops to Americans from marginalized backgrounds. Ms. Gaul earned her J.D. from the Temple University Beasley School of Law and received a B.S. in Mathematics from Appalachian State University.
