Insights: News Kilpatrick's Prominent SALT Team Grows in Chicago
CHICAGO (December 9) – Kilpatrick announced today the addition of Lauren Ferrante, Counsel, to the Firm’s prominent State and Local Tax Team. She joined the Chicago office on December 1.

She brings a diverse skillset that perfectly complements the extensive services of our nationwide practice,” said Jordan Goodman, Co-Chair of the Firm’s SALT Team. “Kilpatrick’s SALT practice is a leader in offering sophisticated solutions to the most complex tax problems for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to privately held entities to middle-market businesses. Lauren gives clients another valuable resource. We’re excited to welcome her to Kilpatrick,” remarked David Hughes, Co-Chair of the Firm’s SALT Team.
Ms. Ferrante focuses her well-recognized practice on state and local taxation. She represents clients at all stages of state and local controversy disputes at the audit, administrative, and judicial levels. Ms. Ferrante brings extensive experience defending clients against qui tam (False Claims Act) claims filed in the state tax arena. She also counsels clients on planning, transactional, and compliance matters concerning various state and local taxes including income and franchise, sales and use, gross receipts, and miscellaneous taxes.
Ms. Ferrante is a prolific author and speaker on state and local tax matters including apportionment, nexus, and tax procedure, as well as other state tax issues. She has also held numerous professional and community leadership positions during her career.
Ms. Ferrante earned a LL.M. in Taxation, with honors, from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law; a J.D., magna cum laude, from University of Illinois College of Law; and a B.A., magna cum laude, Honors in History, from Miami University.
Ms. Ferrante’s addition from Akerman reflects the Chicago office’s continued growth. Recently, Bob Brunner joined the Chicago office as Litigation Counsel on the Firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation Team.
