Bob Brunner is a litigator with extensive experience before state and federal courts in numerous jurisdictions around the country. His experience includes representing financial institutions in complex business litigation, handling insurance coverage disputes involving high exposure claims, and litigating class actions. Bob also has extensive experience representing master servicers, special servicers and other lenders involving CMBS loans, including workouts of non-performing loans such as forbearances and loan modifications, as well as handling foreclosure actions including work with receivers involving distressed properties.
Bob’s experience has also included handling consumer financial services litigation involving a wide variety of claims such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, and Telephone Consumer Protection Act, as well as state unfair and deceptive acts or practices statutes and other consumer lending statutes and regulations, including those issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Bob also has extensive state and federal appellate court experience, including appeals before the Illinois and Wisconsin Supreme Courts, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Seventh Court of Appeals, and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Bob was a judicial extern for the Honorable Harold A. Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and is admitted to practice before a number of federal courts.
Bob is committed to pro bono work, which has included representing individuals seeking asylum in the United States before the U.S. Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
Prior to joining the firm, Bob was of counsel in the Chicago, Illinois office of a global law firm where he gained extensive experience representing financial institutions in complex business matters before state and federal trial and appellate courts, and represented master servicers, special servicers and other lenders involving CMBS loans. Previously, Bob was a partner at a Chicago law firm where he concentrated his practice on commercial litigation and insurance coverage.
