Laura Burkett focuses her practice on real estate and commercial development. She represents clients in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing, and leasing. Laura also has experience with residential and commercial projects including multifamily, retail, and mixed-use developments.
Prior to joining the firm, Laura was an associate in the Raleigh, North Carolina office of an east coast law firm in its real estate and commercial development practice. Previously, she was a commercial real estate associate in the Raleigh, North Carolina office of a Triangle-area law firm. Laura also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable R. Christopher Dillon in the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
Laura was recognized in 2025 as one of the "Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch" for Real Estate Law by The Best Lawyers in America®.

*Represented developers in numerous acquisitions and dispositions including retail shopping centers, multi-tenant office projects, multifamily apartment complexes, and commercial laboratories.
*Represented residential developer in single-family and townhome projects including acquisition of land, financing, and lot sales to builders.
*Served as local counsel for closing of multi-family portfolio transactions totaling over $1 billion.
*Represented investor in purchase of historic properties converted to office use.
