Trafton Dinwiddie is a lobbyist, policy, and political advisor with nearly a decade of public and private sector experience. He regularly assists businesses, associations, and governmental entities with government advocacy at all stages. Trafton also specializes in state lobbying and advises clients on a wide range of matters involving the North Carolina General Assembly and state agencies, including boards and commissions within the Executive Branch. He is well-versed in complex negotiations, state legislative process, and extensive research, particularly in the agriculture and natural resources, energy and utilities, and local government sectors.
Prior to joining the firm, Trafton was a Government Relations Advisor in the Raleigh office of a full-service law firm based in North Carolina where he was skilled in building bridges between his clients and state and local governments.
Previously, Trafton served as Policy Advisor to North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore where he focused primarily on agriculture, energy, environmental, and state regulatory legislation. He has overseen the development and passage of multiple state budgets, as well as groundbreaking energy legislation throughout his time at the General Assembly. Additionally, Trafton has successfully led negotiations on complex topics such as environmental regulation within the agriculture sector, emerging contaminants such as PFAS, and flood resiliency and mitigation on the North Carolina coast.
While attending North Carolina State University, Trafton served as a policy intern in the Offices of Representative Roger West and Speaker Tim Moore where he performed extensive research in various fields related to wildlife and conservation, and led a year-long study on compensatory mitigation related to development and impaired water bodies for a legislative working group.
