Chris Garcia focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the fields of chemistry and life sciences.
While attending the University of Colorado Law School, Chris worked with the firm in 2022 and 2023 as a summer associate and in 2023 and 2024 as a law clerk where he gained experience in patent prosecution and litigation.
Chris is a synthetic organic chemist with experience in the design, synthesis, and characterization of small molecules. While attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, he served as a Research Assistant in its Department of Chemistry and his graduate work focused primarily on structure-activity relationship studies of novel heterocycles as potential therapeutics for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
While attending California State University, Chris was a Supplemental Instruction Leader and Research Assistant in its Department of Chemistry where he taught supplemental lectures for General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, performed synthetic organic chemistry developing selenium and tellurium-based compounds used to catalytically activate oxidation reactions in Professor Michael Drake’s Laboratory, and developed analytical protocols for the separation of bioorganic material in Professor Koni Stone’s Laboratory.
Previously, Chris worked for the United States Forest Service as a Forest Protection Officer in Mi-Wuk Village, California and as a Wildland Fire Fighter with the Stanislaus Hotshots crew in Sonora, California.
Chris is co-author of several peer-reviewed journal articles, co-inventor of a published international patent application, and has presented at professional conferences.
