John Jett is a trusted advisor and legal strategist, advising in-house counsel and business professionals in regulated businesses operating in the telecommunications, energy, insurance, and banking industries. For nearly twenty years, he has represented defendants as well as plaintiffs at trial and in arbitration in venues across the Southeast – from Washington, D.C. to Texas. For defendants, John has led teams successfully defeating numerous major claims, often through dismissals or summary judgments or the denial of class certification in cases seeking hundreds of millions of dollars. While representing plaintiff businesses, he has led teams prevailing on substantial claims, including an eight-figure victory on behalf of a plaintiff corporation. Outside of formal proceedings, John is often asked to advise businesses facing potential regulatory or litigation risk. Similarly, he is often retained before arbitration or litigation is commenced to either resolve matters practically or to prepare them for formal proceedings.
John leads case teams supporting clients such as AT&T, Truist, DIRECTV, Smoothie King, CRC Group, Southern Company, Lockton, Warner Bros., and Aaron’s. He is Chambers-ranked in the area of Georgia Commercial Litigation and is a past-President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. John has been selected by his peers to act as a private mediator, and by state and federal judges to act as a court-appointed special master.
A few comments recognizing John for outstanding client service in surveys of in-house counsel include:
“John is the most effective relationship partner we work with across all of our outside firms.”
“My favorite outside counsel.”
“John Jett at Kilpatrick is very good in state court in Georgia. He also has the bigger litigation experience that we also need. To the extent we may get dragged into federal court litigation, he can handle that too.”
“The best at client service.”
“I feel valued because the relationship partner I work with makes it a point to always check in and see how I am doing and how they can be of further help. If I have an issue or a suggestion, I bring it to my partner and it is addressed immediately.”
