Overview

Chelsey Phelps focuses her practice in the areas of real estate finance, commercial mortgage servicing, commercial lending, and other commercial real estate transactions. She primarily represents major financial institutions and loan servicers in connection with commercial mortgage loan transactions.

Prior to joining the firm, Chelsey worked as an associate in the Finance Transactions Practice Group of a global law firm in its Charlotte, North Carolina office where she represented CMBS/CME loan servicers in defeasance transactions as both servicer and successor borrower counsel, major financial institutions in commercial mortgage loan servicing transactions, commercial mortgage loan servicers on loan assumptions, and non-bank lenders in connection with negotiating and implementing mortgage loan purchase programs.

While attending law school, Chelsey served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Wayland Sermons in the Superior Court of North Carolina. She was also a member of the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property and participated in the Appellate Advocacy Clinic where she filed briefs and participated in an oral argument in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Prior to attending law school, Chelsey worked in development for her alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
