Insights: Events 50 Years of the Indian Civil Rights Act: Protection and Denial of the Civil Rights of Native Americans

Faculty, University of New Mexico School of Law Symposium

This symposium—50 years of the Indian Civil Rights Act—will bring much needed attention to the protection and denial of the civil rights of Native Americans in the fifty years since Congress passed the Indian Civil Rights Act in 1968. The format invites us to listen to and learn from Indian people's stories and perspectives on a wide range of civil rights and human rights issues. We will also hear from governmental leaders, Indian law scholars, and others about what we all can do to help protect Native people in the future. Bree Black Horse participated in a panel discussion titled ICRA and Tribal Issues – Belonging and (Dis)Memberment.
