ABA 2019 Section of Litigation Winter Leadership Meeting

Investigations into Russian influence during the 2016 presidential race continue to be the focus of media headlines, resulting in congressional investigations and efforts by lawmakers to fund and develop procedures to strengthen their election systems. Election interference in the digital age is no longer limited to traditional campaign finance misdeeds. Instead, it involves a complex panoply of propaganda through use of social media, altering websites used by state and local election authorities, sock puppet accounts, and hacking servers of a party or actual polling places. This panel, moderated by Ray Aghaian, will address election interference and tampering as well as governmental and private efforts to eliminate or minimize the risk of intrusions on our electoral process.
