This session will explore the structure and foundational principles of state income tax. Designed for attendees with varying levels of experience, the session will provide an introduction to—or a refresher of—a wide variety of issues related to state income tax. Attendees will also be introduced to concepts that will be discussed in more detail in other sessions.
After attending this session, the participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure of state income tax
- Explain how state income tax is calculated
- Discuss potential nexus and exemption issues related to state income tax
- Identify jurisdictions where an organization or client may have potential state income tax obligations
