SEATTLE (April 4) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that partner Rob Roy Smith was one of only three attorneys nationwide to be named a “Rising Star” in Native American Law by Law360. A committee of Law360 editors reviewed more than 1,100 submissions in order to select rising stars spanning 32 practice areas. These individuals are recognized as the top legal talent under 40 based on their career accomplishments in their respective practice areas.

Mr. Smith focuses his practice on federal Indian law. He advises Indian tribal clients on all aspects of federal, state and tribal law, including economic development, natural and cultural resource protection, taxation, tribal sovereignty and gaming.

For over a decade, Mr. Smith has successfully represented Indian tribal governments, individual Indians and tribal businesses in complex litigation before state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as the Idaho Supreme Court. He has filed briefs before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Federal Claims on a variety of issues, including tribal jurisdiction and fiduciary duty. Mr. Smith also has experience litigating cases under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act.
