Insights: News Kilpatrick Names Jennifer Arkowitz New IP Department Chair
Michael Turton to Serve as IP Deputy Department Chair
ATLANTA (July 2) -- Kilpatrick announced today that Jennifer Arkowitz is the firm’s new Intellectual Property (IP) Department Chair and Michael Turton is the IP Deputy Department Chair, effective July 1, 2024.
Ms. Arkowitz, who is the first woman to lead the 300+-attorney department, is an Atlanta-based partner in Kilpatrick’s Trademark and Copyright Team. She has been with the firm for nearly two decades – with the first 16 years working from the San Francisco office where she continues a strong presence counseling California-based clients. Ms. Arkowitz’s practice focuses on global trademark portfolio management, representing some of the world’s most notable brands in domestic and foreign clearance, prosecution, enforcement, and acquisition matters. She has been active in firm management, including as Chair of the Kilpatrick Partnership Committee and member of its Shares Committee. As the IP Department Chair, Ms. Arkowitz will provide leadership to help shape the department’s strategy, growth, and culture.
Mr. Turton, who practices from the Atlanta office, will serve in the newly created role of IP Deputy Department Chair (Deputy Chair). The Deputy Chair will support the department chair in many areas, including strategy, recruiting, and participation in various firm processes. Mr. Turton is a partner in the Patent Litigation Team where he focuses on patent litigation, counseling, and patent portfolio management. He joined the firm 25 years ago and has held leadership roles relating to associate and counsel recruiting, including as Chair of the firm’s Hiring Committee for the past six years.
Both Ms. Arkowitz and Mr. Turton will continue their vibrant practices while leading the IP Department. Wab Kadaba, who became Chair of Kilpatrick on July 1 of this year, previously served as IP Department Chair for 11 years.
“Jen and Michael’s comprehensive knowledge of the IP landscape complement one another and will be invaluable in defining the next chapter for the IP Department,” said Wab Kadaba, Kilpatrick Chair. “I am confident in their strong leadership abilities and will continue to work closely with them to ensure a smooth transition.”
