Kilpatrick Townsend attorneys Dustin Greene and Elizabeth Winters will take an in-depth look at the North Carolina Business Court and will provide information that practitioners (both in-house and outside counsel) can utilize when deciding whether to select the Business Court as the forum of choice for their cases. The presentation will focus on developments in and opinions from the Business Court during 2020-21.
The CLE will include a brief overview of the Business Court and its judges, including recent and coming changes to the composition of the Business Court. The presenters will then review the significant cases decided by the Business Court in the past year to provide attendees with a better understanding of how the Business Court functions and its jurisprudence. Analysis will include: the number of cases accepted for Business Court jurisdiction by category; geographic distribution of Business Court cases; a review of significant substantive opinions from the Business Court; and an analysis of how decisions from the Business Court fared on appeal in the past year.
