Acacia Cirasunda Dettman focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the fields of chemistry and life sciences.
While attending the University of Colorado Law School, Acacia worked with the firm as a summer associate in 2024. She served in the school’s Patent Clinic where she helped local entrepreneurs patent their intellectual property. She also served as a judicial extern for the honorable Judge Timothy Tymkovich at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Prior to attending law school, Acacia worked for two years as an Analytical Research and Development Chemist in the Boulder, Colorado location of a CDMO partner that supports complex modalities for the advancement of the drug development lifecycle of Pharma- and Biotech companies where she conducted method development and stability studies on time-sensitive projects necessary for vaccine availability throughout the country during the COVID pandemic. Acacia also worked for over two years as a Quality Control Chemist at a manufacturer of unique, high-performance organometallic compounds in Mead, Colorado where she performed qualitative and quantitative analyses on organometallic compounds, organic ligands, and raw materials to ensure that products met both company and customer specifications.
While attending Colorado State University Pueblo, Acacia was a forensic science lab intern at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in Pueblo, Colorado where she performed and published a validation study on the Edelman Test (presumptive test for urobilinogen). She served as an inorganic chemistry researcher as part of the Cranswick Research Group where she designed new syntheses for the development of metal-coordinated ligands to model enzyme active-sites. Acacia also served as a summer research intern as an assistant researcher in a nanoparticle laboratory where she synthesized both gold and silver nanoparticles of various sizes and characterized them with UV-vis.
