Marthy Hernandez focuses her practice on Native American affairs and litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Marthy was a litigation associate in the Yakima office of a Washington based law firm where she represented tribal-member owned enterprises in all aspects of economic development and litigation and successfully defended against state civil regulation of off-reservation inter-state treaty right activities.
While attending Gonzaga University School of Law, Marthy interned for the Gonzaga Public Interest and Indian Law Clinic. She also worked for the Child Youth Advocacy Program for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP).
While attending the University of Washington, Marthy studied abroad as a participant in the Northwest Cadiz Program in Cadiz, Spain.
Marthy was the 2024 Director of the Law School Admissions Counsel (LSAC) PLUS Program at Heritage University. The Program is an innovative partnership among Washington’s three law schools, Seattle University School of Law, University of Washington School of Law, and Gonzaga University School of Law, that aims to make a law degree more accessible to diverse students, especially Latino/Latina/Latinx and Indigenous students. Marthy was honored in 2024 with Central Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s Award for Leadership in Public/Civil Services.
Marthy is fluent in Spanish.
