Carolyn Kearney is a registered patent agent who focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling primarily in the areas of electronics and software. She has drafted and/or prosecuted more than 400 U.S. and foreign patent applications for clients in high technology industries including software, hardware, nanotechnology, metallurgy, cryptography, automation and manufacturing, consumer devices, and sporting equipment.
Carolyn‘s academic background in materials science and engineering and self-taught software developer skills enables her to bring a depth and breadth of knowledge to technology at all levels, from semiconductor fabrication all the way up through the software stack.
Prior to joining the firm, Carolyn was a patent agent in the San Francisco, California office of an intellectual property law firm where she prepared and prosecuted patent applications and managed patent portfolios for select clients. Previously, Carolyn worked as a patent agent in the Mountain View, California office of a national technology and life sciences law firm where she successfully drafted and prosecuted dozens of U.S. and foreign patent applications for clients in the technology industry.
While attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science, Carolyn was part of a team researching how morphology impacts the efficiency of thermoelectric nanowires.
Carolyn’s computer languages skills include JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, Java, C++, OCaml, HTML, CSS, git, node, and npm. Her computer applications skills include MATLAB, COMSOL, and Cambridge Engineering Selector.
